What do I have to do to become a vet. How many years of college and further study does it take? What classes should I take, since I am in college right now, and basically what steps do I have to take to become one.

PS: I HATE CADAVERS and I hope in order to become a vet, you don't have to work with them.

Ok first, you do have to dissect dead animals, but not dead people. If you really have a problem dissecting cadavers, medicine is probably not the specialty for you.
Second veterinary school is very competitive, since they are only a few of them in the country (U.S. at least).
You need four years of college and 4 years of vet school.
You will need several hundred hours working with animals, say at a vet's office, the zoo or a farm or horse ranch. this is usually a requirement.
then you have to get good grades at school, including some of the pre-requisite courses like biology and chemistry, sometimes physics and biochem and organic chemistry.
then you need good numbers on an entrance exam like the MCAT or GRE.
It's a long road, but it can be worth it! good luck!

A Vet Tech is a vet nurse. You usually need a 2 year degree to work as a vet tech, but qualifications do vary with some states. Salary can be anywhere from $19,000 to $41,000. Vet Assistants are helpers to the Vet Techs and Vets. Most veterinary clinics will hire assistants with a high school diploma. There are certificate programs for vet assisting, but technically there isn't any need for them since you don't need to be certified to be a vet assistant. Salary can be between $15,000 and $31,000 but it's usually on the lower side.
