It's different and I think it's pretty. I believe it is an Hawaiian name. Leilani is also Hawaiian. Kailani Liane would be a nice name. I definitely don't think it's strange. If you look at some of the names on this sight, you'll realize Kailani is quite normal compared to some suggestions.

A name is a special gift one can give to your child... I wanted to name my 1st daughter Leilani Jordan but I winded up losing the middle name. She complains that she can never find anything with her name on it or that people don't know how to pronounce it. I think you should really know the meaning of a name and make sure in your heart you love it . Kailani is beautiful & unique.
Enjoy your new found family!

Kailani is a cute name. I also like Kailani Rain as you mentioned. My friends name is Kailani but she goes by Lani. It's spelled Kaelani. She's a really nice girl.

Well i have a friend with that name but the problem is that it is a boy so i think it wouldn't be good 4 a girl but 4 a boy is much better. And trust me. And maybe if you pick it 4 a boy he might be fast because my friend with that name is fast and i really mean fast.

I LOVE THE NAME Kailani... Mostly because you can use Kai for short & that is soooo cute! How about combining your sister's name's and going with Kaileigh (kai-lee) SOOO CUTE!!!
Congrats on your baby & meeting your birth family!
Good Luck! ;-)

I think giving your kids names that for all we know are tropical islands or inflammatory diseases is silly.
