I am scheduled for my first ultrasound this coming week. It will be a Trans-vaginal ultrasound. I am taking my boyfriend, and I am just wondering what to expect. Will we see the baby? Silly question, I know, but I find it hard to believe you can see them this early on. Also, I am worried. What if we don't hear a heartbeat? I'm just being a worry-wort, but I hardly feel pregnant right now. Initially I was lightheaded, had a cold, cramps, etc. Now, the only sign of pregnancy I have is sore breasts.

At that stage you won't see what "looks" like a baby but you should see the heartbeat through the Ultrasound. They may try and listen to the heartbeat with another tool (not the ultrasound) which may or may not work (it is sometimes hard to "find" the heartbeat at this stage in your pregnancy).

In the Ultraouns you will see a "beating" and the Sonographer will point it out (make sure to ask what things are if you are curious).

Congratulations.
Marc

i am the same way. You will see the baby but you wont be able to tell its a baby. it will look like a peanut, i am 14 weeks pregnant and still worry even though i have seen the baby , heard the heart beat and all that good stuff. With my last pregnancy i felt much better once i got past the 4th month when i could regularly feel the baby moving around which let me know everything is okay. If it makes you feel better, babybeats.com and storkradio.com rent out fetal heart monitors for about 40-50$ a month so you can hear the heart beat whenever you need a little reassurance.
Congratulations!

You will be able to see the baby, you might not recognize it though! It wont look like a baby & the doctor will probably have to point it out for you. And the heartbeat probably wont be heard until about the 10th week. I had my first ultrasound at about 15 weeks & you could really tell it was a baby by then.

I had an ultrasound a little further along than that and the heartbeat was faint but it was there. The picture looked like a pea sitting on top of a kidney bean. Don't worry, at 8 weeks you wouldn't really "feel" pregnant unless you were getting morning sickness.

You probably won't hear it. I had my first US at 6 weeks. It was trans-vaginal. We could see the heartbeat. It looked like a little lightning bug. Our next US was at 9 weeks. We could not hear the heartbeat until around 14-16 weeks.

Honey, your baby at 2 months is only the size of a large peanut!!! Maybe a little bigger..... To hear a heart beat at just two months, I would think would be "RARE!!" If not impossible!!! I had an Ultrasound when I was less than that , but it was because my 1st husband kicked me in the stomache, and I wanted him to know he killed our baby, so I demanded one, the very next day, and made him sit through the whole thing!! And they couldn't find a heart beat, and If I wasn't so afraid of him I would have told the doctor's that he killed our baby the night before!! I knew the baby died, because as soon as he was done kicking me and went for a walk, I sat down and was very emotional and felt like I was no longer pregnant!!! All because he wouldn't get off of drugs for me!! So, my doctor made me have a DNC, right after we went to the hospitol, and on our way home he never so much as said sorry, nothing!!! I devorced him right after that!!! The idiot!!! Broke my heart what he did to our baby!!! Anyway this is suppose to be a "Happy Time" for you, I'm sorry, it all just reminded me of when I was that far along..... You may be able to hear a heart beat, I dont know? You'll find out when you go, one way or another!! Good luck & Congratulations!!!! Smile!!!

You actually might get to hear the heart, but i heard my babys heart beat at 9 weeks via transvaginal u/s, it is much more sensitive than a doppler or anything. So you may get to hear it and you get a good little look at it.
