Yes they can function in the same environment. One of them (I don't remember which) works better at a higher pH than the other.
Though they are not optimal at the same pH, they both work around a pH of 9.

No they can not function at the same environment. Pepsin secreted in Gastric mucosa acts at pH-1.0 and Trypsin which acts in deodenum has an optimum pH of 7.4
