SpyBot and Ad-Aware are, in my opinion, the two best free spyware and malware removers around today. I've used both for several years, as they each remove different types of spyware. You can get them both from download.com, but you won't get all the updates. Download and install them, then get the latest updates for both.

Immunize the computer in SpyBot before you run Search & Destroy. Run a full system scan in Ad-Aware, then you can run a Smart Scan thereafter and keep the computer free of spyware.

do in basic terms no longer below ANY circumstances EVER use Antivirus 2008 or Win Antivirus 2008, they are pretend antivirus downloads and easily provide your laptop what they declare to interrupt: like viruses and undercover agent ware, plus they say you've a lot of of viruses that seem risky, yet you somewhat don't have them.

Ad-aware from Lavasoft is a good choice. It's free for personal use.

One I really like is Avast; available at http://www.avast.com/.

You will have to install and reinstall it every 90 days (or something like that) to keep it for free, but it's pretty good for spyware and viruses at the same time.

I recommend Windows Defender. It is free, very good, provides full time protection, auto-updates through Microsoft Windows Updates.
