So far, "Dagon" is the only one the even comes CLOSE to feeling ANYTHING like Lovecraft's tone and style. Why can't Hollywood get Lovecraft right? Is he just too intellectual for them?

Lovecraftian horror is more cerebral than most horror films out. What Hollywood thinks horror fans want is teenagers getting horribly murdered for having sex. I'll grant that horror as a genre is coming up, but will they ever make a great Lovecraft film? They could, but we've seen that they won't.

The problem is that not enough epople tkae Lovecraft's work seriously. And there was another one of Lovecraft's taht was relatively well done, back in the late 60's early 70's with Dean Stockwell. That was the Dunwich Horror, but then that ws back when they still know HOW to make a good suspense/horror film.
