"Early American Inventions" hot water/steam?

I'm trying to find out what buisnesses used hot water or steam during the year of 1889, i tried google and such but not much luck came out of it. can someone help me out here?

I "googled" my butt off on this one too, but the only thing I could find was the steam engine being used for transportation (ships, locomotives and autos) and the articles didn't mention if the year was 1889....good luck!
