In the Sims 2 pets, I have made an upstairs in my familys house. When I click for them to go to bed (which is upstairs), they wave their arms and a little thought bubble comes up. All the walls are up normally and there is a floor and eveything but they won't go up. There is a chest of drawers upstairs too and when I click for them to change they will go up and then just as they are about to approach the drawers their little though bubble comes up again. It is very irritating. I have tried to move the position of the stairs but nothing works. Does anybody know who to make them go upstairs?

There is nothing blocking the stairs or a door or anything.

Are two Sims trying to use the stairs? If not, then there could be something in the way that is blocking the path to the bed, or somebody else in the house could be blocking their path to the bed. If you try all of these and they don't work, try making a bigger house so nothing will get in their way. It would help if you showed a picture so I could understand your problem better.

Are you trying to make the people go upstairs together? If so, then they block each others path, and won't go up.
Try to redesign your house so that the landing area at the top of the stairs is quite wide. Make sure that there aren't any doors that open up directly onto the square at the top of the stairs. Or, try putting in 2 staircases next to each other.
This is difficult to answer without seeing the house.

not sure about your problem but just a quick tip about stairs, if you use the connecting stairs tool to make a staircase inside the house, more than one sim can use it at a time, instead of the normal staircase that can only hold one sim at a time on it. The connecting stairs need a bit more space at the top to place them but it is much easier and quicker than using a normal staircase. :o)
