If you were designing a government, what form of government would you choose: unitary, confederal, or federal? & why?

Federal I like the idea of regions specializing for different types of people. If people can choose what laws they will live under by simply moving I think they would be a lot happier.

what's a unitary? confederal? since the usa has a republic & it works nicely, i'd create what i know will work & be stable: republic. the others are ok, such as barter, communistic, fascist, but only work when the population is quite small as you need the cooperation of nearly all for those forms of govt to work & work well. dictators slip into all forms of govt, by the way, so why address that. oliarchy & regency form of govt, again, must be by total consent of the governing people. in a small population, might be ok, but larger than 10 million, without consent? you'll have one revolution after another. not too smart or stable. also, build your economy on free enterprise & capitalistic stance. everyone isn't equal but with pocket change to spare, who cares? money is power & power is money. that pocket change can get you further than being born to the manor. poor aristocracy? ever hear of any? that's because they hate to admit they have title but no bucks!

I like the system the US has now. I would change some things about it, though.

I would put a cap of $100,000 on campaign ads. That's it. It's all you get. Also, I would not allow ANY campaigning for office until 90 days from the actual election. If you want to know about a candidate, do your homework.

I would like to see the "common man" have the ability to run for political office so he can make a difference. There are too many out of touch rich people looking for a way to make a name for themselves in office, today.

A mix of libertarian and democracy.

Somewhere in there is the right balance to keep government OUT of our private lives, protect our borders and advance our business interests.
