to do with having the best title music ever for a kids programme?

Especially when Tom Baker was Dr. Who it had quite a following.

Yes it had cult following on PBS for a long time after it went off the air.

I am not so sure about the new Doctor Who but I hear good things.

Yes, in the 70s and 80s it had a huge cult following...there were Dr. Who conventions and fan clubs and all. I was in a Dr. Who fan club and attended many conventions. I still love the show, even the new episodes.

It was shown on public television and now the new ones are shown on Sci FI and on CBC. Maybe it does have a cult following.
The theremin music did not do much for it though.

The first Doc, Baker, and the one after Baker were good.
It had a cult following and not just with little kids.

This new DW is annoying!

Are you talking about the old one or the new one?
I love to watch the new one now but when I was little the original one creeped me out. I wouldn't call it a kids show.

Yes, it was popular in America. I don't think the theme music would have carried it very far.
