I'm not pregnant, in high school, but we discussed baby names today and everyone told me that Mackenzie is a boy's name. I love it, it has always been my favorite girl name. It was supposed to be my name but I got Nicole instead.

It's origin is of a Scottish clan (last name). I named my daughter Mackenzie, but I have also known people to name their boys Mackenzie as well. As long as you like it, it should not matter.

The name could go either way, a boy's or a girl's name, but i would rather name a girl Mackenzie than a boy, and i absolutely love the name Madison

Up until about three years ago, I had always thought of it as a girls name, as I went to high school with a girl named Mackenzie. My parents neighbor went and named her son Mackenzie (they call him Mac now) but I still think of it as a girls name. So it can be used either way.

P.S. I personally like Mackenzie Madison

There used to be an actress in the 70's named Mackenzie. It could go either way with this name I think. I think it's unusual and very nice sounding. Sounds like a good strong name. I think a girl would do well with that name.

My son's name is Tyler which is really a last name, he was named after Steven Tyler. So you see any name can be used as a first or middle name!

I have never known a boy named Mackenzie. I know there are some with that as a last name. It's an Irish last name. I do know 4 girls named that and one is my little sister-in-law. Good Luck!
