only employ pretty people, do they consiously or unconsiously discriminate against the not so pretty? even if the not so pretty are qualified enough even more so than the pretty person?

I think that for some companies that is true, but I also think that everyone can be good looking if they try. If you present yourself in a good manner then I think you have a pretty good shot. I've moved a bit recently because of my fiance's job and always been able to get the jobs I want. I'm definetly not comparable to other girls in southern california, but I dress appropriately for my body, put effort into myself, I have confidence in my qualifications and work ethics so I get the jobs.

I'm certain that some may unconsciously do so but not all. The majority of employers are more interested in people's ability to fill the vacant spot then how attractive they are.

You've obvisously never been to Northern California, where there are only average looking people (except for me of course- lol).
No drop dead beautiful people here, or at least none that I've seen, and we are all employed (thank God).

I think it depends on the industry and the employer. Sometimes it's a legit business decision if the person is your representative to your customers.

They say they dont but thats not always true. Statistics show that pretty people get better jobs, higher pay rates, and are all in all better off.

You know they have rules about discrimination but you know that most place ignore those rules.
