Although rap is in it's prime do you think their lyrics are getting to mature for teens such as myself? Although the i love the music aswell as the lyrics I do think that what they say is pertty graphic. Now i have no problem at all but at the same time they need to realize that the majority of the people (age wise) are teens and for the parents out theire to some,it really bothers them that theire kids are lisioning to it.Or so I heard.

R u crazy? Rap has always been Raw! "F*** the Police!" From it's beginnings it has pushed the envelope or what is accepted as main stream. It is, was, and always will be raw.

And btw, that is not a cheap shot at Sting and his band. It's old skool NWA! Yeah Boyzzzzz!

Raw? Yea right, now-a-days rap isn't the greatest. All they do rap about is money, cars, and women. A lot of this stuff normal people won't own in their lives. When I hear rap, I hear the same washed up topics over and over, to high kicks and heavy drum beat. I think rap is at an all time low, the good... No not good. Great hip hop was back in the early '90's, if you ask me.

If you listen to music thats graphic and entertaining then you listening to good art. The more graphic an artist is in his portrait the more a listener is able to feel and be moved by his art.
Compare:I sell illegal substances on my corner/ if you do to your a goner.
To: I hit corner push d to eat hussle to survive\ you trying slang on my street? man you phuckin with my life\ its an emergency i call on my 9 to give you 1+1 (911) man you gotta die.
Which one was more graphic yet entertaining? The 2nd one gave you reasons why he sold drugs "to survive." And why he would shoot another black man in the same predicament.Alot of rap music is influenced by the ghetto. The artist are Authors.Would you want to read a book that was censored?Or a book that graphically illustrates the authors story? When I was a teen I didn`t understand how people could be influenced by rap music to do something negative. Teens although young and impressionable are generally not stupid. If you kill a cop because you heard it in a rap song then you have severe phycological problems unrelated to the music.Nowadays parents let they kids be raised by video games, music, t.v. etc. Then blame the video game or music content for not raising them right? Who`s responsible? Its not a rap artist responsibility to raise you its your Parents.

I hate rap, but the lyrics too are discusting, and a majority of the time dont mean anything..

I only like two rappers, Ill Bill and Twiztid, they don't really get that raw. (though they do curse)

Other than that what I listen to is mostly electronic/gothic/darkwave/and very little metal, I think the worst thing ive heard in the entire eletronic, gothic, and darkwave genres is "Damn," (remember that by gothic, I mean true goth music like Cruxshadows and Bauhaus, not the pseudo-goth HIM and Evanesance crap)

Reguardless of what people listen to and whatever genre it is, I'm against musical censorship, period. Artists can write what they want..It's a parents responsibility to know when its to "raw."

rap lyrically is not in its prime, maybe finacially

the good lyrically prime rap which is old school rap was extremely raw and held nothing back. it was about the struggle on the streets and they added every detail about it.

todays rap is just about money and acting more bad then everybody else, when the really frontin and they aint hard. there are very few rappers today that actually rap about the struggle and dont glorify the street.

You're absolutely right...
But is not just rap, its also with Reaggaeton, (Spanish reggae), the lyrics are so ridiculous and sexual that after a while you just realize that these people just don't have any substance to them.. Do they not have anything else to talk about? With rap it seems to be more about violence and reggaeton its about sex... It's embarrassing sometimes when i find myself in the car with family members listening to a song that i like and all of a sudden the next song is explicitly talking about sex or drugs and guns!

Rap has always been raw. I'm not a big fan of rap because they all sing about the same stuff (for the most part). How much money I have, how many girls/guys I've been with, everyone wants to be me, how big my house is, how many and what kind of cars I drive, ect...

Vanity!!! Pride comes before the fall.

As the world progressed into being more graphic, these rap artist are, and always have, written songs about life. This is life now and I get your point that it is a bit OTT, however... you can't turn on the news these days and not see a bad thing!

Rap has always been raw...and it the lyrics are getting more graphic. I love hip hop/rap, but the teens who prefer rap, they should go to Wal Mart and get the non-explicit versions.

Eminem's verse murdered Biggie's on ineffective incorrect. As prepared on the two Em and Jay, Em owned Renegade. lower back and prepared on the two 2Pac and Em, they seem to be a perilous blend on sooner or later At A Time. His verse replace into dope yet 2Pac gets the upperhand in this one.
