It is a good school, but there are better (I went to Rutgers). Overall the experience was very good, there is a lot more to college than the class room. When seeking advice about a college, you should also state where you are considering going. Rutgers vs Stanford=Stanford
Rutgers vs College of NJ=Rutgers

Rutgers is a good school with a strong reputation, especially outside New Jersey. It's a competitive school, with a lot to offer, especially to a motivated student. If they offer you a good deal, and you think the university is a good fit, it would not be a bad choice.

Now, is it Harvard? No. It doesn't have that sort of prestige. But it does rank up there, as someone else said, with schools like Boston University, U Maryland, and other solid national universities.

Rutgers is one of the better public universities. US News ranks it as the #60 US national university -- which is actually quite good. It puts it on a par with other good state universities like University of Maryland, University of Minnesota and Ohio State. It is also comparable to good private universities like Boston University, Syracuse and Clemson.

You can get a very good education there.

It depends... it's pretty average, but if they gave you the best scholarship, go for it.
