So far Roadrunner cable is the best we ever had! We had dsl from Bellsouth, dial up from Aol..and this blows everything up by far with the speed of the internet and downloads..and it is always on all the time at the fastest speed.

You will have to compare like for like. For example, it is possible even with DSL to get 20mb therefore the possibly slow internet from a end line cable provider would be worse. The answer therefore is get a hard technical quote with resistances, signal drop, contentions etc. Nearly all suppliers tell you what you cannot achieve for example France Telecom tell people around here that they can have 8mb, they cant as the local sub feeder is confirmed as having a major problem and the max for the whole area is only 8Mb. My line only gives me a max of 1Mb so my max is 1 Mb irrespective of what I pay for, any more and it is fraud. That does not stop ISP's though. The block at the local unit means that with contention its possible to drop almost to dial up.
As a point if you use the "free" ISP modem you signal is DELIBERATELY being slowed to help on contention. Get yourself a bought modem and see the system fly compared to before, it also pushes thru the max amount. (It means the rest when I am online get 7mb between the 500 or so users!!!!
Try INR.Net for a test or get a belkin modem and test your line or a test program for it.
A thought if your cable provider is optical then it MAY be quicker and have less interference.

CABLE CABLE CABLE. Cable internet is going to be much faster. The downside to this is usually the cost, but many cable companies offer internet for around $30/month while DSL may come in at $15/month. The difference in speed is usually at least 4 times faster with cable, often times more.

The high speed depend on your connection if it's broadband so you will get high speed if you have dial up connection so you get low speed like 50-110 kpbs. You can also try sify broadband high speed internet

I currently have it through cable, but was much better through my old phone company. but you just have to do some research and check out their rates and such and compare. make a list of pros and cons and then do the comparing.
