Don't ask that question to Mayor Hazel in Mississauga...I imagine she'd beat you up over such nonsense.

The Canadian government knows that every major city will soon have an NHL team. The Jets and the Nordiques will be back. Soon the Waterloo Penguins. We live for hockey up here and we sell out every game. If there were 28 cities in Canada with teams the games would still sell out. I was watching my Leafs kick some Panther a** last night and noticed all of the empty seats. If that game had been in Toronto it would have been full. It looked as if there were only about 10,000 people there. Pathetic. Is this what you think will happen to the NHL defendero? Teams that are filled with Canadian players playing in US cities in half full arenas.

i hit upon a pair human beings's comments in right here quite hypocritical. Russ, for instance, has a Jets avatar yet calls out Ottawa and Edmonton? both communities are both extra difficulty-free then the recent Jets, are in larger markets, and are some distance extra shown. wonderful bill also comes off as very hypocritical. for someone to advise transferring Canadian communities because on their worst years (ending in the bottom 5), they lose one or 2 million is ridiculous, fairly thinking there are quite a few communities in the US who lost over $20 million very last 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and one (Phoenix), it truly is predicted to lose upwards of $40 million this upcoming season. All Canadian communities are extra solid then they have ever been. The 4 smaller markets (Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, and Edmonton) are owned by Melnyk, Thomson, Edwards, and Katz respectively, all billionaires. Even without making the playoffs, and in relation to Edmonton, an previous section, all in reality lost really minor sums of money (a lot less then $5 million). the different 3 communities (Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal) are between the NHL's excellent gross revenues turbines. for my section, Canada can help one extra 2 franchises on excellent of the seven that already are placed in the rustic. the last 2 markets that would want to help communities that are presently without are Quebec city and a 2d Southern Ontario crew. Quebec city is in the technique of making a clean section and has a plausible possession crew waiting and keen to purchase a crew ought to the prospect upward thrust up. Southern Ontario isn't just about as prepared yet might want to properly be if the NHL signaled a favor to placed a 2d crew there.

Some people are so ridiculous.
To complete someones answer, CANADIANS ARE NOT WANNABE AMERICANS! Believe it or not, we are 2 very different nations, and Thank God for that I might think to myself often times...
Hockey is a religion here in Canada, even if we have 6 teams, OF COURSE THEY HAVE TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY! what non sense is this...

I'm thinking on the top of my head right now at : the Vancouver Canucks, the Ottawa Senators, The Canadiens ( even if they've been through a tough time, as most teams go through same experiences...) These teams have been doing extremely well..

Canada is a hockey nation and this sport is taken very seriously here, unfortunately sometimes the government doesn't have enough money to encourage sports, younger teams...etc but as for the Canadian NHL teams they deserve all the recognition in the world! and WHY THE HECK SHOULD THEY BE BOYCOTTED??? They have much representation here, they don't need more than that, thank you very much.

And as time passed we've lost many important teams, such as Les Nordiques du Quebec.. this team right here had so many legends that have fascinated kids and adults just the same...
Enough Canadian teams have moved to the States and/or have ceased to exist here, and none should ever go back to the States. Should I add anything more? I don't think so :-)
what do Gretzky-Yzerman -Sakic- Crosby- Brodeur- Roy- Damphousse- Maurice Richard-Recchi-Cameron Ward-Jason Spezza- Lecavalier-St Louis-Brodeur- Briere- Lindros-Lemieux ( just to name a few fast fast) all have in common?? They're all Canadian ! YA RIGHTTTTTTTTTT... Get ready to see quite a few Canadians at the All Star Game my friend ;)

Ya fine we only have 6 teams, but how many of our players are in the Big League? Far too many to count.

As a Sabres fan, I can tell you quite unequivocally that they take the Canadian teams seriously. Fully half of their losses this year come from Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal.

I think your question should also include cities with NHL teams. Should some of them really be taken seriously.

So where are the Ottoawa Senators in this?

Quebec doesnt have a team, no one cares, it is still awesome. Plus, hockey i believe originated in Canada, and without that city where it all started (I not sure where) we wouldnt have hockey

What's there like 6 Canadian teams left in the NHL? They'll be moving to the US soon too.

I can see it now, the Topeka Canadiens. Or how about the Mississippi Maple Leafs.

When was the last time a Canadian team even won a Stanley Cup, eh?

I'll save you all some time, 1992-93

Aren't most Canadians wanna be Americans anyhow? Might as get rid of the border and make Canada the 51st state. This would eliminate the issue. As an added bonus we would dissolve that retarded Canadian Football League too!
