Two suggestions: 1) He can press the 'hold door' button (it really is there in most elevators).
2) Take the stairs and avoid the people.

Tell your friend to learn some patience if he gets where he needs to be on time he wouldnt have to be in a rush and he can hold the elevator for people instead of being a selfish and if he just has a problem with not wanting to stick his hand in the door there is a button specifically for holding the door open..whatever the case is he should be a little more considerate because karmas a ***** and he might need someone to hold the elevator for him one day

No. I stay in the South. Boys are raised to appeal to close their moms. even as they become men they have an inclination to carry that understand for women folk. there's a huge difference between preserving a door open for a lady (or a guy for that count number) because it truly is polite to attain this and insisting on doing it like she isn't able to doing it herself. i actually had a promenade date once that screamed at me because i tried to open the motor vehicle door previously he might want to get to it. i actually ripped my gown operating up the front steps of my homestead attempting to get interior and faraway from that freak quickly adequate! the position I stay, the first man or woman who receives to the door opens it and holds it open if some different person is coming in or out of it. Then that man or woman holds the door for the subsequent, etc. If a woman opens the door first and a guy comes up, he generally takes the door and holds it for her to proceed by. it truly is all about manners, no longer women folk's lib. i'm a mom with 3 youthful babies. there are cases even as i could not open the door if i had to. If I wasn't a married lady, i'd kiss each guy who ever held the door open so i might want to get those little buggers the position i became going!

Have him use the door open button then. Push it, hold it and the doors will stay open. He's right, sometimes sticking your hand in the closing doors can be painful..

There is an 'open door' button on the elevator, he could place the tip of his finger on that.

I suggest not being a homo and worrying about random people that didn't make it in time to get up the elevator 2 minutes earlier.

Honestly, that's the other peoples' problem and not your friend's. If he's not comfortable, he's not comfortable. The people who are peeved will get over it eventually. I doubt they will lose sleep over his supposed thoughtlessness.
