There is always "O Brother Where Art Thou." It's a great film! It says right at the beginning that it's based on The Odyssey, so I don't know if that will work for you or not.

Would I be wrong in thinking that this is a homework question?
As a piano teacher in training myself, I would consider myself totally remiss if I just gave you an answer. First of all, your teacher probably wants you to explain why you would compare the movie, photo, or book to the Odyssey.
May I suggest beginning by considering the basic elements of the story. You have,
1) A long jouney home
2) An imperfect hero (cheating on wife, etc...)
3) Seemingly insurmountable obstacles to the characters' goals (i.e.- getting home)
4) The deeds of powerful Gods and magical beings
5) The relationship between god(s) and man. In this case, the gods are mercurial and tempermental, more human like than what we now think of as Godlike. They often use their powers in anger and vengeance.
These are just a few. So find a book, movie, or photo that might incorporate one of these elements, or if you think of your own important element.
