Like, my hips hurting cause they are stretching out making room for the baby. Or the cramps you constantly have while your uterus is stretching. or the increased vaginal discharge. Or everything else that no one ever mentions that happens during pregnancy. It's no fun! Worth it, but I wish I would have expected these things.

I agree--why don't they tell us these things? I think every woman who's ever been pregnant should make a list of the worst things about pregnancy, put them in a book, and hand them out to teenagers.

First off, the world is full of information that is at your finger tips. My question to you is, why did you not research pregnancy before it happened?. Any book or Internet site would have offered good answers. You could have asked your GYN about the negative aspects of pregnancy. Did you think that pregnancy was going to be a walk in the park? what gave you the impression that it was easy? Pregnancy is a wonderful time for a woman, your concern should be for the growing baby not what it's doing to your body. Those are things that are expected when you are going through a pregnancy, some of us have it better than others but it's basically the same. Good luck!

It is one of the grand deceptions of the universe, I'm afraid. I'm sorry your hips hurt. See if you can find a prenatal exercise class in your area. They will work on stretching exercises and strengthening your stomach and back muscles, thighs and arms. Also, find yourself some Vitamin E oil. Combine it with whatever lotion you use on your skin (helps keep your skin flexible with all of the stretching it will go through). For the cramping, make sure your prenatal vitamin has lots of calcium (find out from your OB/GYN if you can take a supplement--I think you can, but check to be sure). You and Baby are using large quantities of calcium (building bones and cartilage, that sort of thing), and if Baby doesn't get enough from your diet, your body will leech calcium from your own bones to make up the deficit.

Sorry for the discomfort. It will be worth it, I'm sure you know already, but keep asking questions as they come up. We've all been there or are going through it, too, and we're pulling for you. Good luck--

Actually my doctor mentioned all those things and so did my sister and mother, and even my mother in law. But then they all had several kids by the time I had mine. I bet you were not told that your body will never be the same after all this, and there is a period of time that you may not be able to hold your urine for long because the baby weighs down the bladder. You have to exercise to get it back to where you want it.

I know, I am 22 weeks so the cramping does not happen much anymore, thank god. But the constiaption and lack of sleep from peeing all night is the worst. My best friend actually prepared me for this pretty well, I was expecting pain

Well me personally have told friends about all this after i had my child. My Friends and i always discuss it. But, i think if someone really wanted to have a child they should read pregnancy books first like What To Expect When Your Expecting. It would really help huh? I know what you mean, i'm 28 weeks and my back hurts, my feet etc... but this is my 2nd baby so i already knew what i was getting myself into. Women..the things we'll do for our babies!!

Actually....with our second child we were trying. I went into the doctor for a physical and they DID tell me all of that. But they didn't know I already had a baby lol. I think if you are planning a child and go in they will explain these things to you. BUT most pregnancies aren't planned anymore lol. Good Luck though!!

I felt the same way, I still feel the same way. No one ever told me that headaches are common. Esp. if you got migraines before they could get worse when your pregnant. My boyfriends mom gave me this book called "The Girlfriends guide to Pregnancy"
It tells you everything that no one else has told you. Its a really good book, they dont sugar coat things they tell you how it really is!

NO KIDDING, or how about the weeks of bleeding after you have the baby?? Or the itchy skin because its stretching? Or how about nerve pain because the uterous is sooo heavy it can pinch them.....

I think if this was more common knowlege maybe we wouldnt have 16 yr olds on here so eager to say they want a baby...they think its just like playing house.........and its not!
