A race car driver does not play a race thus he races and is called a driver. But I know that you made this question to get people riled. It is an old joke meant to attack NASCAR drivers and their fans because they are normally White Southerners who participate in racing.

It is very shameful that Americans have not matured much over the generations. We seem to be doing a lot of adult things earlier and earlier but our maturity has not come any faster.

Because if we went by those rules, being a "racist" still doesn't give any information about how or what they're racing. Are they racing cars? Horses? On foot?

If someone who races were to be called a racist, that would be like calling a person who plays piano simply a player.

Someone who swims is called a swimmer.
Someone who races is called a racer.
These are both athletes (apples). A pianist and a racer are a musician (orange) and an athlete (apple). So really you are comparing apples and oranges.

You've got it wrong.
They PLAY the piano so they're a pianist.

They PLAY races, they're called racist.

They RUN farms, they're farmers.
They RUN races, they're racers. They run sprints, they're sprinters.
