If you have it open they can. I am an administrator and can remote connect to any of the 20,000 systems we have and unlock the screen if needed. It doesn't even require the user accept.
Although, seriously I have no interest in looking at what they are doing personally on the system.
JUST WANTED TO ADD..... We have fired people for installing key loggers. They area violation of the privacy act.

As everyone else said, keyloggers are a way that they may be able to record your keystrokes. Although this is true, there are other ways the company can monitor what you're doing with their money.
If the company has some sort of proxy server set up so that all company computers are running through a single computer, the proxy server will be able to monitor and record all incoming and outgoing data INCLUDING your yahoo email. So if you're looking at it, chances are they could be too. This also includes AIM instant messenger conversations, so be careful what you say. These are all sent/received in plaintext by default.

Admins may have the power to using software.. but a secure link can ensure that no personal details are given away.
A familiar technique is to install key loggers on networks so words can be produced from what a user types.
I would ask your network manager if they can for cetain or just wait intill you get home.

You're yahoo email is on yahoo mail servers. They can't check it unless they have your password or there is some kind of keylogger on your computer.

I don't know for sure but I wouldn't have thought so, YOU have to sign in with you user name and password don't you? So unless your password is public knowledge I reckon your secrets are safe.
