At your first appointment they will examine you. They will have you schedule another appointment for your ultrasound if they plan to give you one early on in your pregnancy. They want you to drink lots of water before an ultrasound so that they will have a better view of the baby! I didn't have my first appointment until 12 weeks and then had an ultrasound a week later to determine the size of the baby and an estimated due date. I then had another ultrasound at 20 weeks. Then a 3d ultrasound that I paid for at 35 weeks. Call back and ask what their procedures are. Congrats and Good Luck!!!

Most offices you actually have to go somewhere else for the ultrasound, so it's doubtful you will have one that day. But anyways, since your after 12 weeks, using it for dating won't really be accurate and it won't be needed unless your high risk. You should plan on having one scheduled between 19-21 weeks give or take. If you are high risk for some reason, they may do one sooner to double check things. Good Luck!!

Well both of my pregnancies i went to the doctor at about 5 weeks and had to wait until i was 10 weeks to have ultrasounds. Since you are already there i dont see why they wouldnt do it but you can always call the nurse and request one at the same appointment because sometimes it does require a separate app depending on the doctor.

It actually really depends on the doctor. I didn't have my first ultrasound until I was 20 weeks. That's the only ultrasound I get too.

I think you have a great chance that they will give you and ultrasound that day!! GOOD LUCK!! Hope everything goes great!!! or call the office and let them know your concerns and see if they can do the ultrasound by then, but I really believe you will have one anyway!!

I don't think you'll have an ultrasound for your first appointment unless your pregnancy is high-risk. Normal pregnancies usually have one ultrasound around 23-24 weeks. Congratulations, and good luck--

As long as you know basically how far along you are and you and your doc don't suspect any problems, they'll probably wait for another month or so before getting an ultrasound. Good luck.

Where I live ultrasounds are not part of routine prenatal care and are only used if there is an indication of a problem. Ultrasounds to not improve patient outcome when used routinely and they are not without risks.

I did not have an ultrasound.

Well since this will be your first appt i am thinking that they will not do one that day that they will schedule one for another time. But you will defiantly get one.

It depends on the doctor. But chances are they will schedule you for one closer to 20 weeks.
