I have the LG CU500 and I do not have the service for unlimited text messages for the month. I only had the 900 rollover minutes for Cingular for about 2 weeks now and is switching over to the family plan. Why I am asking is because I tried to get ringtones of the net and they kept sending me text messages and I stoped them. Will I be charged for this text messages? I have not gotten any ringtones from these sites either. Thankyou for all your answers and if you know any ringtones sites that actually work please list.

Without adding text messaging to your service plan, you will be charged for all texts coming in to and from your phone. All texts from Cingular will be free.

As for not receiving your ringtones, if they were free, no big deal. If not, you need to contact their customer service reps and have them resend or refund your $$.

Most likely, and Cingular just raised their rates!

I am a big txt msgr, and I found this site called Peekamo.com.

You really got to go to www.peekamo.com and register for their free service. At peekamo, you can send free TXT messages to anyone in the USA and Canada from your desktop. You don't need to know their carrier or anything. Best part is that it is free, for you and the person receiving the TXT msg. Peekamo uses SMPP not SMTP. You don't have to worry about spam either. You can create groups too. I'm from Canada where if you don't have a plan, TXT messages to the US can cost upto 15cents! Check it out - it really works and its really free. and no spam at all.

Why pay the telco's when you don't have to right!

These text messages were from cingular or from someone else? I don't have a text message plan either but text messages from cingular I have not had to pay for. However I would think any text messages you get from anywhere else would get billed to you.
