The statement is based on the fact that many people can't see blatant flaws in people they think they love, or see things in them that just don't exist. Think is the key word, because love has a great many imitators, the most common being dependency where two needy people rely on each other to feed their needs, and think they are in love- but actually resent being in the dependent position. Dependency is indeed blind because it is preoccupied with needs.

Love- the real and unfortunately too rare thing, is not blind at all. It is a gift and exists only as a gift; one given in full knowledge and acceptance of faults and flaws of the recipient. There is no obligation involved.

If you mean "love is blind", I don't think it's really overrated, You tend to overlook alot of little things about a person you're in love with as opposed to someone you don't know or don't have any strong feelings for.

I do not think that the saying "love is blind" is over rated at all. My reasoning is because of my own experience with my ex. I put up with mental and physical abuse for 3 years because I "loved" him and every time he would tell me to "fix" myself, I would try.

I did not see the whole picture until I was forced to leave him. Then I realized how stupid I was.

It is true in a way. Have you ever noticed that when you become friends with someone or you like them they almost seem to be prettier, because of the favourable light you put htem in. I mean in a good world love wouldnt be based on looks

If you think it's over-rated, you haven't experienced love yet.

There are things that the one you love will do to you, that you would never accept from any one else! And why? Because you love them, and you believe that they would never do anything to hurt you.

Love is blind, is one of the truest statements ever spoken.

There is some truth to that. "Love is blind, Neighbors are not" People on the outside will see things you might not if you are in love.

Ok, 200% overrated. And yet, love is still not blind enough.

I really think it is... Love is blind, or if not blind, then at least its all rose colored. People who are in love are willing to forgive some pretty terrible things. MARRIAGE... Now that is a real eye opener!

Not necessarily, love makes you do alot of stupid thing that you dont even realize your doing, all your focus is just trying to make that person happy.
