No tilefish, no swordfish, no mackerel. Great Lakes fish also has to be limited b/c of the amount of mercury. No soft cheeses such as Brie or Bleu, and lunchmeat and hot dogs are ok if they are well heated first. Microwaving lunchmeats kills listeria, so hot ham an chesses for example is ok...but lunchmeats and hot dogs are not very good foods for your baby or you anyway...high in sodium and junk parts...yuck. For a complete list ask your doc...

Look up the reasons why hot dogs and deli meat are not reccomended during pregnancy. First reason is that you can not be certain of the fat content. Second reason is that you can never be sure how long they have been cooked. Undercooked hot dogs, deli-style meats, soft cheeses and raw milk products can harbor listeria, a type of bacteria that can cause miscarriages. This is accumulative... if you eat them every day you run a high risk of miscarrying... if you ate them before you knew and are still carrying then there is no risk. Just be certain to cook them fully any future times you eat them.

I ate Vietnamese sandwiches the first month of my entire pregnancy...I craved them endlessly...and then I found out I was pregnant. The bacteria in the deli meat is what concerns doctors, but you can eat them. You're supposed to heat them up in the microwave until warm and it should be ok. All that talk about chemicals and such...we already devour so many unhealthy chemicals that I'm not even sure what we can call "food" anymore. Did you know that a single apple has less amount of nutrients than it did 50 years ago because of all the chemicals involved in growing them? Fish high in mercury should definitely be avoided, but it's safe to eat shrimp. Of course, raw fish such as sushi isn't so great either but I ate sushi once during my 2nd month and my doctor told me not to worry. Just try to eat healthy and fight off unhealthy cravings as much as possible. Discuss concerns with your doctor and I'm sure you'll be fine.

Things like hot dogs and deli meats tend to be high in nitrates, which aren't really *good* for anyone, but unless that's all you eat it'll be ok. I wouldn't worry too much about foods, unless your diet is disproportionate in something there isn't much you can eat that will really hurt the baby. Just don't drink alcohol, watch the caffiene, and don't smoke or do drugs and you'll be fine.

I don't think it will hurt your baby...but hot dogs and some deli meats are just not that healthy....but fattening. Usually, when you are pregnant, you try to eat healthy for your baby (and yourself as well). The baby will get what he\she needs to develop properly, even if it means taking it from you. So make sure to take your pre-natal vitamins and drink plenty of milk, and visit your obgy as scheduled. Best wishes and Congrats!

You are not supposed to eat hot dog because they have a preservative called sodium nitrate which they say cause cause birth defects. AS far lunch meats boars head brand is fine, because no preservatives in it. And high mercury level fish are out, some you can have once a month. Main thing is be careful in your first trimester.

properly, there are few ingredients that truly might desire to be prevented, yet there are some significant ones. some allergists reccomend fending off important allergens, which contain shellfish and peanuts in case you have hypersensitive reactions that run on your loved ones or toddler's father's kin. different ingredients that would desire to be prevented are uncooked or undercooked meats, chicken, fish and eggs; unpasteurized dairy products which contain some mushy cheeses (like brie); chilly cuts - particularly ones from the deli - prepackaged chilly cuts are much less possibly to harbor listeria; bigger fish which contain swordfish or shark (contain bigger tiers of mercury and different contaminants); blue cheese. there is not any generally happening risk-free quantity of alcohol which would be fed on throughout the time of being pregnant as low as 2 cups of coffee on an popular basis has been suitable to a doubled threat of miscarriage. some care vendors experience that that's terrific many times to keep away from ingredients which contain man made sweeteners and preservatives, besides. Your terrific guess is to devour a healthful, balanced weight-help plan with ingredients in as on the area of their organic state as conceivable. a variety of of protein (80-a hundred grams on an popular basis) and a variety of of unpolluted culmination and greens and complicated carbs will shop you and toddler feeling sturdy and your bodies healthful. terrific desires for a chuffed, healthful being pregnant, start and toddler!

You can't eat anything unpasteurized, or soft cheeses. Also some fish isn't good to eat either, unsure of the kind. Check out www.americanbaby.com or babycenter.com. They'll have some good advice.

The food itself isn't the problem, its the fact that these foods have a higher risk of being contaminated with listeria or other bacteria...and they are ok if heated properly. And trust me you will get sick, like food poisoning before it gets to your baby.
Do some research, because you got alot of crappy answers.
