It was about a month ago when she had her second C-section. Every thing went fine. Two days ago she was lifting her older daughter out of the car and she felt a sharp pain. After that, the oain never went away. She went to her doctor and they told her that she might have infection and that they might have felt a lump that could possibly be a hematoma. They gave her antibiotics and pain medication and said to go to the ER if it wasn't better by the next day. It wasn't better by the next day so she went to the ER. They did a CT scan and nothing showed up. The kept her at the hospital over night. She has no fever, blood pressure is normal, blood count is normal, they said they think the lump that was found was from her scar tissue, probably an adhesion. She is on fluids and antibiotics through IV. They can't seem to find what is wrong with her. Also they said that she doen't have any infection which they first thought she did. She is still at the hospital, getting frustrated.

Also does anyone know how many sets of sutures or staples they repair a womens insision with? Do they stitch the uterus, then the muscle tissue, and then the skin or what?

it sounds to me like they messed something up. i had a c section 3 years ago and everything went fine. and I'm actually gonna have another on Monday the 22nd. so this kind of scares me. i dont know exactly but maybe she should try a different hospital because if they did mess something up they might not want to admit it because they could get sued. i guess if it was me id want to go somewhere else just to make sure they are not hiding something. because what she is experiencing is not normal and yes c sections hurt but not like what your describing. good luck to her. and i will be thinking about this while they are doing my csection on monday.

No fun~ I would assume the number of stitches, or sutures would depend on the size of the person's incision. It sounds to me like she may have pulled a muscle that hasn't healed yet.

I had a c-section with my first child (a whopping 9 pounder), then insisted on having my other two children vaginal. My cesaerean was horrible. I had what is known as a spinal headache, and was stuck in the hospital for 8 days after my son was born, with this painful headache. They finally gave me a blood patch and that took care of that pain.

I took me over 3 months for my incision to heal. I had staples, then tape over those stuck vertically over the incision. It hurt very bad. I had to be careful even when turning over in bed, because of the pain she is describing. My c-section was 8 years ago, and sometimes I still feel that same pain if I turn over wrong or lay wrong.

My newborn was so heavy, and I had to walk up stairs to my bedroom carrying him, and I felt a lot of the same pains it sounds like your cousin is having, it feels like something tore, or stabbed you there.

The doctor's have told me, and my sister-in law who also had a c-section the same thing about the pain, that it can be caused from the scar tissue. I've read that the scar tissue though can wrap around healthy tissue, causing problems. They are probably keeping her there to monitor her for possible infection, and keep her off of her feet so she does not tear out her incision.

She should make sure her incision is clean and dry at all times, (don't go out and run any marathons lol...), take care while walking up steps, and don't let the belly bounce around. I'm not sure about how the muscle tissue grows back, or how they connect it all back together, I think it just grows back together-they just put it back in the same place...or otherwise it would take hours to connect each and every piece of muscle tissue. I know they use self absorbing stitches to stitch the uterus back up.

(Hope she gets out soon so she can get some rest lol...it's just too hard to rest with people coming in and out of your room at all hours!)

It's only a topic of insensitivity. Some humans do suppose that Csections are the effortless manner out of getting to give a little one and so ask for them for no purpose, however for your sister's case, I guess she hasn't inspiration something approximately what she's mentioned. She's most commonly simply joking as she says it and does not become aware of that she's hurting you and what she's truthfully suggesting. If you're ever in that drawback once more, simply say "no sis, a Csection is NOT the effortless manner out...YOU and your traditional births had been the effortless manner out" after which provide an explanation for to her, such as you did us, the whole thing you went by way of. It's obviously NOT effortless and the number 1 purpose why I suppose humans will have to particularly and actually suppose approximately their selections earlier than leaping right into a csection due to the fact that the concept of giving beginning is "gross" or they're concerned approximately their vagina getting stretched or some thing else ignorant purpose they arise with.

This did happen to me with my first c-section, i tried to rough it out but ended up not being able to walk by the end of the week because i was in so much pain. Anyway, i went to my doctor finally, and apparently my stitches had not been closed correctly, caused a slight infection and scar tissue at one end of my incision. i had to have my incision opened, cleaned out, and reclosed with only local anestethic, and it was not pleasing. i'd suggest that she stick out getting it checked constantly to make sure nothing nasty is going on. with my second c-section, i never got to go into labor, my uterus started to tear at my previous incision and i had to have an emergency c-section. i have felt incredibly sharp pains in my uterus/scar area before going to the hospital and was immediately brought into ER to get my son out, and remove the pressure before i hemmoraged. sometimes the uterus can thin out so much that it can't handle much pressure at all, and a c-section incision can begin to tear with normal daily activities.

This is normal, especially only after 4 weeks. It takes most women longer than 6 weeks to recover from a C-section and some longer than 12 weeks. Keep in mind that a C-section is considered major surgery and she needs to take it easy.

My sister had problems like that and they had to do a hysterectomy. Her uterus never went back to normal after having her second child. Good luck to her.

Wow, I had three C sections and nothing like this. I'm afraid I don't have any advise, but wanted to wish her best of luck and a speedy recovery.

maybe lifting her little one was too much strain, she is in a weakened condition, maybe she pulled a muscle or the lump could be a hernia? hope all goes well
