To matttheking_2000: Mariah Carey has a black dad and doesn't look black at all so you can't say that someone mixed w/black will look black enough to be recognized as black. My grandmother had a mixed mother and white father, she didn't look black either. You really shouldn't make unfounded, generalized comments.

I was watching the ANTP marathon on VH1 a while back. They showed her mom and dad. They're both black. She favors both of them...so I think I'm pretty safe in saying that they are her biologicals and not step parents.

Im black myself & my mom is white and my dad is black so i guess you could say im mixed race but even if one of your parents is white and the other black the child is coloured.

just bc she's got a white parent doesnt mean she's not black... the other parent could have the dominant traits or the skin color could be the recessive gene. who cares anyways?

People who have a white parent are still black. If you have a black parent, that pretty much makes you black whether you want to be or not. You can mix any other race/color with a black person, and they will pretty much always look black enough where the general populace will see them as black.

I think as long as you have a close black heritage, you can be proud enough of that heritage and call yourself totally black, no matter what the case.
