well if your friend is not all white then there is nothing wrong i am half japanese and half white i have a pale olive colored skin and under my arms its like brown and i know i shave like all my creases of my skin are darker like your knees elbows etc. so tell your friend that its only because she has a different skin tone there is nothing wrong with her underarms i know people will ask me to and ill tell them.it has nothing to do with anything else not creams or diabetes nothing it depends on the person and the skin tone. trust me my sister is a model hers are the same its not like a disease or anything.

d skin turns black because of the cream she uses...usually all of these hair removal creams leave our skin in a darker tone!!
wax is the best method for hair removal...and d skin remains white as ever!

i have some tips , i am not a girl but may be its helps you
1)Try and tweeze with the help of an epilator. Scrub your underarms gently with a pumic stone daily, when taking a shower. This will be of some help in the case of in-growths. Also, try applying anti-fungal powder. But if nothing helps, you should consider switching to waxing.
2)
Remove hair from your armpits regularly, and always apply an anti-perpirant. Deodorants don't always help, but roll-on anti-persipirants help. Try Secret, which may be available in imported stores. Also, Rexona advertises an anti-perspirant spray, which seems to be effective. Try that too. Never spray perfume directly in your underarm region.
3)
Is the skin dark? At times, armpits appear dark because hair-growth is visible through the skin of fair women, a few days after waxing. If this is the case, there is nothing you can do, as you would just have to wait for the hair to grow a suffecient length, before you can wax it off once again. Dark armpits could also be caused due to excessive sweating in the underarm region. Use an anti-perspirant, and apply an anti-fungal powder to your underarm region. Change your clothes as soon as you reach home, especially if they have sweat on the underarm region. Make sure you keep your underarms clean, and wax them regularly. Scrub the underarm area well while bathing, and wipe the area with a wet towel or tissue a couple of times a day, whenever you get the chance. Do you wear tight sari blouses often? If yes, try switching to loose salwar kameezes. Avoid wearing synthetic fabrics near your underarm region.
4)
Avoid shaving your underarms. Shaving only removes the hair growing above the skin, and the hair under the skin shows through transparent skin, making underarms look dark. Switch to waxing your underarms instead, as waxing removes the hair from the root.
5)
Are you fair? Armpits appear dark because hair-growth after waxing is visible under the skin of fair women. If this is the case, there is nothing you can do. Wait for the hair to grow a sufficent length before you can wax it again.
Dark armpits could also be caused due to excessive sweating in the underarm region. Perhaps you are allergic to a particular anit-persirant or deodorant? Try applying an anti-fungal powder to your underarm region.
Change your clothes as soon as you reach home, especially if they have sweat on the underarm region.
Make sure you keep your underarms clean, and wax them regularly. Don't shave.
Avoid wearing synthetic fabrics near your underarm region.

7)
Are your underarms dark? If yes, applying lemon should help. Also, don't shave or apply hair removal cream to your underarms. Wax them regularly and apply anti-fungal, non-scented powder to your underarms. Wear cotton clothes in the summer, and avoid synthetics.
8)----------------
it is endless
please don't ignore men's suggestion
