I have a yard full of Black Locust trees that I would like to get rid of. They are hard to cut down and even when you do, the stumps are very difficult to pull or eliminate.

This is a large weed that somehow got put into the tree category. The problem is they store a lot of food in their roots so when you cut them down there is still enough food underground to send up new shoots. It's almost impossible to poison them without sterilizing your yard.

Your best bet is to cut them as close to the ground as you can and every time you see a shoot, prune it off before it can open it's leaves. Every time it sends up a shoot it uses some of that stored food. When enough of the food is gone the roots will die and your problem will end. But it's an exercise in persistence. If you check it every week you will eventually win. Good luck.
