I wouldn't think it's replacement that is necessary, it is laundering. I wash mine regularly, and the pillows that my DH and I use are exclusive to us. It's just a safe and healthy practice. You really should consider getting each person their own pillow. Not only will it cut down on wear and tear, if someone is under the weather, your risk of spreading it will be lessened. You will know when it's time to get new pillows when they "break down" and no longer hold their shape.

Normally, once a year as long as only one person is using it. If lots of people are using the same pillow then I'd replace it at least once a month or more often.

I think the pillow case should be replaced after every person. The pillows should be covered w/a dust mite pillow case then w/the usual pillow case. The pillows themselves, after 3-6 months, depending on what they are made of.

We have extra pillows and blankets in our linen closet for guests. The pillows have covers on them and the pillow case and cover gets washed after every use...depending on how long the person is staying. The blankets also get washed after they leave. I have had he same pillows for years because I only buy ones that are machine washable.

I'm unsure of that one, but I change mine whenever they get flat & that's like every two months. Oh, I would never sleep on a pillow someone else has used unless I know them very well-like my husband!!

I usally do the sping back test. You bend it in half and if it doesn't snap back, it's time to change.
