Yes, 5 months, 11 countries, all by myself, loved it!
Use common sense.
Try to learn a few phrases in the languages of the countries you visit, it will be appreciated and go a long way if assistance is needed.
If you like to party go to Lloret de Mar, Espana. You'll meet people from all over the world there, and party with them!

You mean "backpacking" across Europe or some tourist thing like that, not backpacking in the wilderness which is what backpacking means in English. Waste my time writing a huge idiota answer. Bleh!
