Have you rebooted it yet? They will still register as being used if you don't reboot.
If you have then I would suggest download system mechanic at www.iolo.com
It will search out and release any junk files that are still hanging around. It should do more good than removing a buch of programs.
You should also try to run disk cleanup.

programs does not take much space generally. Check for which drive the warning comes.

See in My computers>right click on drive

try to see what information is there. Remove unwanted or copy it to another free drive.

You may have a lot of photo/graphics taking up space. Did you check that?

go to your system tools area and click on disk cleanup and that will tell you where you need to clean up your disk to make more room.i just did it to mine and go up to your tools tab and click on internet options and empty your temp files and your cookies.

once you deleted your programs, did you empty your recycling bin. you computer doesn't change the space amount in the bin until it's been emptied.
