You can easily change the settings by going to the control panel, then mouse. The default setup is for right-handed people because statistically there are more right than left-handed people.

I am right-handed, but my husband is left-handed. He likes to keep the mouse on the left side of the computer, so I got used to using it that way and now find it awkward to use it right-handed. The mouse snuggles between my left thumb and forefinger, putting the left clicker right under my left index finger. So my advice is to move it to the left side of the computer; it's really easy to use. And for me, it means that my right hand is free to scribble notes to myself or whatever else I want to do while I'm mousing with the left.

There are plenty of mouses out there that are symmetrical. If you want to use it with your left hand, go to start | control panel | mouse

Adjust the settings for lefties.

Most people are right handed.

There are symmetrical mice out there so people can invert the clicks if they opt to and use mice as lefties.
