I would rather have a really nice house. If you had a really expensive car but lived in a bad neighborhood, you stand a great chance that the car will get stolen. Then you would have NO car and still have a crappy house in a crappy neighborhood.

living in a crappy apartment/house is more embarrassing, I'd rather drive a cheap car and live in a nice house than live in a crappy home and drive an expensive car any day.

Thats a tough one, But i think I would rather live in a nice neighborhood and drive a crappy car. You can always park your car in the garage so people dont have to look at it!!

I have never been embarrassed by where I lived our what I drove and I never will. Right now I have a "hooptie" and I'm proud of it. All it has to do is operate and get me where I need to go; I'll do the looking good. When I pull up into valet parking in my hooptie, I do it proudly because the valet guy is going to get the same dollar from me as he will get from the person driving a Mercedes. Every day that I return home from work, I step into my front door gladly. My house is full of love and I'm far more concerned with that than square footage and swanky zip codes!!!!

This is not entirely true for every black person. It depends on the amount financial education that a person has. one person may see someone else driving a nice car but they do not know of the burden it carries to care for an expensive vehicle. I am black and I believe that we all can make this decision based on our motives or environment which may influence the buying decision.

I drive a crappy car and live In a crappy house... and neither one embarrasses me, because I have earned these things with hard work. It would make no difference to me if I drove a Bently or a Caravan. Material possesions mean nothing!

I would be thankful I had either or. Some people do not even have a place to live or a place to drive home to (or they call there transportation home).
