We don't even have traffic lights where I live.

Yes- I live in San Diego, and as far as I know, all the freeway on-ramps have them. Some are just used during peak traffic hours, though. I think they're a great idea- they really control the flow of cars merging onto the busy freeways.

They're not trying it...it's been in effect for quite awhile on US 95 near the spaghetti bowl. I saw a huge difference in the flow of traffic due to them. It's actually easier for people to get on the freeway, and the traffic in the 'slow' lane gets to keep almost up to speed.

Melbourne, Australia has them too!

They're co-ordinated with each ramp to balance ramo queues with the heavy traffic on the freeway...

A pain if you ask me!

No, but I wish we did! I've seen them used in Baltimore and thought they worked well. The traffic on the main interstate in central Florida is absolutely mind-numbing!!

Yes we have them here in Sacramento. They seem to only use them during rush hour. I find them to be a little effective when it comes to merging.

yep, billy ignores them, only in america would people stop at a light without a cross street, how stupid is that
