With incident after incidents of bullying and general anti social behaviour maybe its time to restore authority . The problem was the" youth rights" liberal lobby who have helped breakdown and return our society back to the dark ages.

Yes i accept there might be an issue with some heavy handed teachers but i think theres more of a problem of removing children and also labeling them when in most cases i think its just kids who need discipline and to be taught respect. I also agree with the comment that discipline needs to be present in the home but we have the problem with kids having kids and some bad parenting you see this on those dire morning chat showsit is indeed a wider social problem.

Before it would be effective in the schools discipline would have to be brought back into the home.
Subjecting children to corporal punishment at school without a system of discipline at home would not yield positive results. First parents have to act like parents and treat their children as children, not "little adults". Raising children is a responsibility, not something to do when they are not at work.

I think there needs to be a rethink regarding discipline, and corporal punishment should be reconsidered, But what the point if the parents are not doing their job properly, and teachers are being accused of assaults against their kids, also the police should be given more powers to chastise kids. If there was a united front from parents, teachers, police and the government, then it would work. But at the end of the day, Its down to the parents who are ultimately responsible for their children.

incident after incident may be happening, but are you sure more incidents are happening now than before, or maybe they're just showing up on the news now? bullying NEVER used to be on the news, and honestly I think if you really studied the issue you would find that children beat eachother more under corporal punishment than under other systems.
If they lack authority, it is not because they fail to beat their students. Keep trying to find the answer, that's great, but the idea that it is necessary to beat people is not the path to take. Instead of suggesting we revert to an old, ineffective system instead of using our new, ineffective system, why don't you come up with something original? or we really will go back to the dark ages.

Yes, as kids have no fear of punishment anymore. It's even in the ridiculous situation where teachers can be disciplined for raising their voice. We have went from one extreme i.e. harsh physical punishment to the other end i.e. nothing. It's even more alarming when the usual reaction from a lot of parents now is that the teachers must be wrong and that their kid would have done nothing wrong. I think they should get a smacking as well.

It is a huge social problem. Discipline should begin in the home but, if this is not being done, some sort of punishment should be doled out to trouble makers. Gawd, these kids are our future...scary!

as much as i might decide for to declare definite!! i think of at the instant it would hazardous to realize this!! instructors are no greater seen as somebody to appreciate and look as much as or to be feared. If corporal punishment got here into our faculties at the instant we would purely see a extensive upward push interior the style of stabbings/shootings of instructors. young little ones might take revenge on the instructor that struck them!! I additionally think of instructors may be reluctant obtainable out punishment of this form using concern of retribution from the little ones!! in certainty it in basic terms does no longer artwork in practice!! situations have replaced!!

I'm in favor of stricter dress codes. Not skirts and button up shirts, but definately stricter. People would be suprised at how much of a difference this would make on the seperation of school 'kliqs'.

No! I don't abuse my children by hitting them so a school is certainly not going to lay a hand on them either. The problem with some kids today is the fault of their parents not caring enough to spend time with them and teach them right from wrong, schools don't do enough to enforce good behavior either.

I can understand why people would wish to reintroduce corporal punishment in schools. But I can't help feeling that violence breeds violence. If we have to resort to this type of sanction, perhaps it says more about society as a whole and how we have failed. I can't remember which famous person it was who declared that corporal punishment shoud be between consenting adults only. But it's an interesting perspective.
