Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex 1 virus, and can be controlled. A canker sore (aphthous ulcer) is not the same.Hypersensitivity to certain mouth bacteria, stress and anxiety and genetic predisposition can cause mouth ulcers. Food allergies, too,may be responsible for canker sores.Citrus fruits, tomatoes, wheat, milk and cheese are in the list of suspected allergens.Everyone's allergy is different. Writing down what you eat is a good way to keep track of the possible cause, during a breakout. To ease the discomfort (not cure) is to rinse with a good mouthwash, then dry the sore with a Q-tip and then dab with a denture adhesive paste. An alternative is to rinse with a mild solution of baking soda and water. Eat well, don't stress and good luck!

I got clinically diagnosed with herpes (type 2) about three years back, when I was still in college and had a dumb one-night stand. I know a lot of young women say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and all of a sudden it seemed like I was going to have to live with the implications for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date men again. In the end, who wants to go out with a girl who has sores around her private parts? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/9LtnL everything improved.

Not only was I able to clear away all remnants of the herpes simplex virus from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This system provided the chance to be happy and experience true love again. Now I want to help others by sharing this story.

Researches told that the causes are unkown but maybe:
*Reaction of the immune system.
*Bacterial or viral infections
*Hormonal disorders
*Stress
*Trauma
*Heredity
*Food allergies or sensitivities (acidic foods such as pineapple)
*Deficiencies of iron, folic acid, or vitamin B12
*The development of canker sores may signal a flare-up of the bowel disease or gastro-intestinal disorders.

But I think its a fungal infection treated with medication called Nystatin

Steps of treatment:
*Try rinsing your mouth with a solution of 1/2-teaspoon salt dissolved in 8 ounces of water. ( I prefer warm water)
and after that apply
*Liquids or ointments with a numbing ingredient such as benzocaine (Anbesol, Orabase, Tanac) help relieve the discomfort of canker sores. ( I prefer Orabase )

Some important precautions:
Although there is no cure for canker sores and they often reoccur, you may be able to reduce their frequency by:
*Avoiding foods that irritate your mouth – including acidic or spicy foods
*Avoiding irritation from gum chewing
*Brushing with a soft-bristled brush after meals and flossing daily, which will keep your mouth free of foods that might trigger a sore.

I wish you a good health

cankers sores are like ulcers in your mouth. They are caused by a variety of reasons, such as bacteria, bad mouth hygiene, etc. Brush your teeth regularly, use mouth wash, etc. 2-3 times per day in order to keep your mouth clean.

My dad told me you get them from peeing in the street....... lol
on a serious note you can get them from eating alot of food that contains acid.
I got this from a home remedies book
put a cup of salt in a sock warm it up in the microwave, and hold it to the side of your face that the sore is on and it Will go away alot faster than salt water........

like tomato's, oranges, grapefruit etc....
it has nothing to do with oral hygiene
I work for a very large group of physicians.

There are many theories, but nothing confirmative. Some say it's acidic diet, sugars, stress and so on. Two of my children have them constantly, I never had one in my life and my diet isn't the best when it comes to sugars and such. I have found that taking one Kyodophilus daily has cut down on the severity and the occurences of them.

it's a virus. best way to avoid them erupting is to take care not to get run down, take vitamins and avoid foods that trigger the outbreaks. nuts can do it and sometimes chocolate, but most of the time people get them when they are a little vitamin deficient or physically exhausted.

It's just an open sore, and can be prevented by good oral care and good mouthwashing.
