Do the test again. The test can fail if there isn't enough urine on the stick, or if the urine gets "spilled" onto the windows. One suggestion ... pee into a cup then dip the stick in.

When I was having a similar problem I looked it up on line. I found out that the only false pregnancy test you can have is one saying you are not pregnant when you are. (for testing too early) If you get any line in the positive even if it is very faint then you are pregnant. The line will only show up because you have the hormones that pregnant woman have. If it is just the first few weeks the line won't show up too much, if at all. Try a new test in a few days. If you have a dollar tree around they have pregnancy tests. THEY WORK TOO!!! So go buy a few and use one every few days until the line is stronger.
Or you can go to the doctor for a test. Ask them for a blood test, if they do the urine test it is the exact same thing you do at home, so kind of pointless.
To make sure you aren't testing too early (which can just get your hopes up) wait till you were expecting your next period or a few days after.

If there is any part of the "positive" line showing, however faintly you are most likely pregnant! The "weird" results can happen because of several things: faulty test, very early in pregnancy (not enough hormones in your urine to tell for sure), or even the time of day you test can influence the results. The tests are most accurate in the morning, because overnight your hormones will build up in the urine and the higher hormone level will show up as a BOLD positive result. If you test during the day and have drank a lot of water or fluids the hormones will be diluted and not show up as strongly in early pregnancy.
In any of these cases, I would recommend retesting with a new test in the morning.

Sounds like a positive test to me. The first pregnancy test I took, the positive area was so faint that I could barely see it so I had to redo with a different brand and it was positive.

Hey, I would buy another test and retake it. If the same thing happens, then I would call the doctor and make an appointment to do a blood pregnancy test. That is the best advice that I can give you.

So, can you tell if the test is positive or negative? If you're not sure whether the test is positive or negative take another test, sometimes hpt do weird things like that.

You need to take another test. I always buy a box with 2 tests in it just in case I need to repeat the test immediately in cases like yours. Repeat the test with a new one. Good Luck!
