Plus, who knows, maybe Israelis are getting tired of fighting. The Likud Party has been very good at stringing along the fallacy of their interest and commitment to the 'road map' for peace, while simultaneously doing everything they could to sabotage it without utterly alienating the US.
Olmert represents the continuation of policies that for years have failed to do anything but ensure the continuation of violence. Maybe Israel is ready to try something else.
