Those are two fairly old cards!
The 9800 has it, no question, with directx9.
The GeForce 4 Ti is only directx8
The GeForce 4 MX is only directx7

In addition, the 9800 has a 256 bit memory bus against the 4 Ti with only 128 bit bus. Let's not mention the 4 MX again.

The second link below shows comparison of a number of cards including the 9800, the 9800XT, a few flavours of 9800Pro plus GeForce 4 cards from the Ti 4600 down to the MX440 SE (oops)

The third link is slightly more recent, so that the tests separate the cards a little more...

The ATI has it, in this battle of the geriatrics!

what is the specific model for the GeForce 4? "GeForce 4 is just a series of video cards Nvidia sells.
The Radeon 9800 pro is kind of outdated now, it should be okay for casual stuff like World of Warcraft and older pc games, but it wont keep up with the new games coming out.

You didn't specify which Geforce4, but even if you select the fastest Geforce4 , which is the:

Ti4800, the 9800 Pro is still a lot faster, has faster clocks, more pixel & shader pipelines, and can draw directX 9.

Another answerer stated it can do 9c, which is incorrect.

The 9800 Pro can only do directx 9b, which is pixel shader version 2.0.

But still it is better than the ti4800 which can only do Directx 8

a 9800 pro by far..it does direct x 9.0c pixel shaders, geforce 4 (even TI models) are far slower..a 9800pro would be able to play most modern games..not extremely well but at least you could run them...the GF4 is unsupported in most newer games

in case you've checked the video reveal, the cardboard and performance all the hot drivers then the cardboard is on it truly is totally last legs. you would possibly want to attempt a clean PSU, in case your present day one is having some issues then it can't be powering the GFX good
