Why do men say sth nice to a lady and then have to end with "Just kidding"? It's just so annoying. They do not for what? Not to feel embarassed of the compliments?

Well in my case, men=13-14 year old boys and women=13-14 year old girls. I say just kidding because of the reactions that I get from girls when I say nice things about them, they act as if its weird or disgusting coming from me. So yes, for me, I say it not to feel embarassed about what I said.

As a backhanded compliment. It may be anoying, but at the same time keeps you interested. If it was all compliments all the time, you would drop the guy quick.
