I heard the old band is getting back together (Billy & Jimmy - I didn't hear about James or D'arcy) and coming out with a new album. I hope it's more old school and not like Zwan or his solo album. Anyone heard or read anything about it?

Yes Jimmy Chamberlin and Billy Corgan have been recording for a new Smashing Pumpkins album, but apparantly James Iha and D'Arcy Wretzky aren't going to be part of the new S.P. The album is due out in May of 2007, and supposedly a tour to support it. For more info, both Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin are both blogging on their myspace @ http://www.myspace.com/smashingpumpkins

On April 20, 2006, the band's official website, www.smashingpumpkins.com, confirmed the reunion stating, "It's official. The Smashing Pumpkins are currently writing songs for their upcoming album, their first since 1999." [57] The website later reported that the new album would be produced by Roy Thomas Baker, who produced many of Queen's albums, including A Night at the Opera.[58]. According to a MySpace blog posting by Jimmy Chamberlin on October 20, 2006 they finished work with Baker and have also enlisted help from producer Terry Date, who has worked with Deftones, Pantera and Soundgarden.[59] Corgan and Chamberlin are verified as members of the band; however, Iha and Wretzky have neither stated nor publicly denied any involvement in the reunion. Mike Garson, who previously toured with the band, may also be involved in the reunion, as implied in a recent interview. [60] In early December 2006, four alleged demos from the new album's sessions were released on file-sharing networks. The songs were later revealed by SPIN to be recordings by British band Amy Blue. [61] The band's online MySpace blog has mentioned that they are likely to participate in several concerts in the 2007 European music festival season.[62]
