I wear glasses, and when I go swimming I just remove my glasses. However if you cannot see without your glasses, you can purchase several varieties of goggles that can be made with prescription eye wear lenses for swimming. The down side to that is that the goggles are rather expensive (naturally). Another option is to get a string made for sports-minded people that also wear glasses, and this will hold your glasses to your face/head while you swim. It attaches to the legs of your glasses and wraps around your head to hold your glasses in place-just be careful when diving.

Wearing contacts is an option but if it is a hard lens you can risk losing the lens or misplacing it in your eye. There is also the option of soft lenses, but if you weren't wearing goggles you could easily lose them. Buying prescription goggles from your eye doctor would probably be a good option. Another choice you have are to use the Ortho K or Paragon CRT lenses. These are contacts worn at night which push your eye lenses back so you can see well during the day. The worse your eyes are the more they cost so if you are interested, I would recommend talking to your eye doctor ASAP if your visions worsens really quickly. Good luck.

Are you reading under water? Unless your vision is really bad, I just do without any eyeball aids. There's nothing I need to see with that much detail while swimming.
When I go snorkeling and I DO want to see the underwater details, I had a mask made with prescription lenses. It's cool and cost me about $125 a few years ago.

I guess you could get prescription swim goggles, or just wear you contacts under some goggles. I just go with nothing. My eyesight's really terrible without the contacts, but it's a bunch of water. Not much to see.

I just jump in with my contacts on for water polo, and I leave them on under my goggles when I swim. If you do jump in with contacts on and no goggles, take them out afterwards.

There are goggles that you can use with your specific grade(eyes) so you'll be able to see underwater. Or what others do is they use their contacts and just wear goggles. :)

I keep my contacts in (because I have such a strong prescription) and close my eyes if I am under water. I am having lasik surgery done though.
