If you believe it is true, I suppose it is for you but... almost all the 'supposed' incidents are just not true. It is a made up mystery for those who like that sort of thing.

The "Bermuda or Devil's Triangle" is an imaginary area located off the southeastern Atlantic coast of the United States, which is noted for a high incidence of unexplained losses of ships, small boats, and aircraft. The apexes of the triangle are generally accepted to be Bermuda, Miami, Fla., and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
In the past, extensive, but futile Coast Guard searches prompted by search and rescue cases such as the disappearance of a flight of five TBM Avengers shortly after take off from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., or the traceless sinking of USS Cyclops and Marine Sulphur Queen have lent credence to the popular belief in the mystery and the supernatural qualities of the "Bermuda Triangle."
Countless theories attempting to explain the many disappearances have been offered throughout the history of the area. The most practical seem to be environmental and those citing human error. The majority of disappearances can be attributed to the area's unique environmental features. First, the "Devil's Triangle" is one of the two places on earth that a magnetic compass does point towards true north. Normally it points toward magnetic north. The difference between the two is known as compass variation. The amount of variation changes by as much as 20 degrees as one circumnavigates the earth. If this compass variation or error is not compensated for, a navigator could find himself far off course and in deep trouble.

It is still a mystery but now we have some inkling into what's happening there: Those in the know now believe that the culprit is... volcanic gas. The so-called 'Bermuda Triangle' (or the Devil's Triangle) is an area of ocean with much underwater volcanic activity. If a bubble of gas a third or a quarter of a mile in diameter is release beneath a ship, or even an airplane, that ship or airplane will go straight to the bottom. Instantly. Volcanic gas tends to be lighter-than-air and a ship will lose its buoyancy and an airplane will lose its 'lift' diving nose first, engines going full-blast into the bottom of the sea.
It is supposed to occur quite instantly. If the 'odor' of the gas doesn't kill everyone within two-breaths, the ocean returning to envelop the ship/plane will crush or drown all occupants before any kind of distress signal can be sent out. Volcanic gas can be mostily methane, CO2, or something called 'sour gas,' or any combination. CO2 displaces oxygen and can incapacitate very rapidly. Sour gas, according to old time oil rig workers, can kill in 'two breaths.' Sour gas contains large quantities of hydrogen sulfide (an acid) which makes it toxic.
The above explanation is the best one I have found to the phenomena of the Bermuda Triangle in the Atlantic Ocean yet. Other similar phenomena, for example the Great Lakes Triangle, aren't explained away as easily. Of course, one must keep in mind that so many of these stories are embellished to add an air of mystery to maritime or air disasters.

I'm not quite sure WHAT is going on in the Bermuda Triangle, but SOMETHING is definately going on!
Perhaps the Lost City of Atlantis is on the ocean floor?
For the area in square miles compared to any other regularly charted area, the disappearances are higher in number than anywhere else in the world.

okay let me start off by saying that the Bermuda Triangle theory is not there simply because a lot of things dissapear, even though most tend to believe that, it is the fashion that they dissappear in, take for example the fives military planes that dissappeared, it took them a lot of years but they found them, they pulled them up but something was terribly wrong, the numbers on the planes did not match up, and the military didn't have any records of more planes dissappearing, then there was a boat that was sailing along when it suddenly radio in saying "Help. Help us, there's a terrible fog.... it feels like a dagger whats that in the distance, it appears to be hovering above us, what noooooooo, and that was the last they heard of them.

I am betting on the release of methane gas from under the ocean floor causing most of the problems, from what I saw on a special on discovery time channel. They say it can make boats less boyant and airplanes less able to stay airborne. I think those two guys who do the wierd experiments on tv did an experiment with this with smaller versions of boats and with a real boat and with an airplane on the ground and something blowing methane into the engine to kill the engine (because engines need a certain amount of oxygen to burn fuel to keep the engine running).

Mostly a manufactured one. Consider that currently hundreds, if not thousands of boats, planes and subs cross that area every year and are not effected. Also not that over the years the "triangle" has change in size, shape and location depending on who is defining it at any given point.
As with many of these "mysteries", people will pass around "word of mouth facts" without researching them to find out if they have been verified. Often these "facts" will have been thoroughly disproven.

I heard that the Bermuda triangle is where the sunken remains of ancient Atlantis are, and that the supernatural happenings are due to the same reason that Atlantis sank.
