i own a repair shop and the price is real good on this car,,but it makes me wonder why it is so cheap,its actually worth more than that,,it could be that he or she knows whats wrong with it,and is selling it to avoid repairing it,,if i was you id take someone with me that knows about cars,,that check engine light can mean a lot of things,,and it could wind up with you spending a lot of money on it,,good luck i hope this help,s,,PS id probably pass on this one of it was me.

That's a great price if the rest of the car is in good shape. It could be the torque converter stalling the engine, or the engine just being too weak at idle when it's cold. It's possible that something simple like clean fuel injectors would fix it, but you can only guess until you get it checked out.
Even if you put a remanufactured Jasper transaxle in it for $2200, you'd still have a pretty good deal. A used transaxle would be a grand or less.

after it warms up, drive it to auto zone tell the guy what happens like you listed for me , he will plug in the code scanner & down load the list of problems, there is a code (check engine lite). there is no guessing or buying the wrong parts.my car did the same thing, turned out to be a $20 part, im sure the owner won"t mind you takeing it for another test drive. if theres lots of code then at least you"ll have a better idea of the cost !

Well, id imagine its the torque converter because this is a common problem with taurus'. Yes its going to be very expensive to fix, if you do it yourself, you could probably rebuild the transmission for under $500, but if you take it in your looking at around $1000-$2000.
DONT BUY IT!
