It's not even necessarily people with access to a computer. I've seen people write notes and misuse "your" and "you're".
Don't forget about "their", "there", and "they're".
Maybe people just write or type what they hear in their heads, not knowing what the actual correct usage is.

Usually they do. However, these same people probably type shortcuts such as "u, lyk, wut, hu, wen, y," and etc.
More than likely they are just being lazy, or they legitimately don't know.
Let them know the difference, and if they still use them incorrectly, then just know they're being lazy.

maybe they just don't want to type "you're." That's what I do sometimes when I don't want to type it. I mean I'll type "your" when I don't want to type "you're."
