you intall a new operating system and some new application on your computer.you notice that your computer runs much slower than normal.you take the computer to rapir shop and the technician tells you that your computer is swapping a lot.what is the east way to fix this situation?

By setting the minimum and maximum to the same size, the amount of virtual memory you need or want is always available, and the file is not likely to become as fragmented.Buy more memory

For Windows Xp

My Computer> Properties>Advanced

(Performance) Settings <------ click this button

on performance window
click Advanced tab

in virtual memory section click change

now select the option
"System Managed Size"
click Set
click ok
click apply
click ok
click apply
click ok

let the computer restart by clicking Yes

have fun.

One more thing, if ur hard disk is in partation. make sure that drive on which windows is installed is large.

with out any reservations if we supposedly only talk of windows xp service pack 2 than even we need all updates in order to make run the computer with all adds well ,as fask check from menu help in help updates and in updates custom select all even for hardware and soft ware there after download and install button press ,in case all updates are installed still not working well change the adds on from internet option advance settings normally good windows run bit calmy that may be said to be slow but than dsl and internet on high speed lan may boost the working of cpu

Pull the data such as pictures,music,videos and documents off you PC. Either put them on CD's or a flash drive. Then format your hard drive. You can zero fill the drive and then reinstall your operating system. A fresh install should speed it up.

Add memory.

Swapping refers to the computer moving data from real memory to virtual memory (on the hard drive/pagefile). This occurs more when the computer doesn't have enough real memory to manage all of your running programs at the same time.

Increase the RAM in your computer. The swap file is used for informaiton that programs need to run, but ther is not enough available RAM to do it.

More RAM and a bigger hard drive basically. Your computer probably can't handle the new OS as well as the old one.
