Tried all the answers. The problem still exists. Aflashing yellow triangle containing an exclamation mark and a flashing question mark alternating red and blue

You can get rid of this with the use of a pop-up blocker. The Google and Yahoo! toolbars each provide a free pop-up blocker among other useful features.

stop windows messenger from running then navigate to C\Program Files\Messenger....
And rename Messenger Folder to MessengerOFF
Do it exactly this way and the pop-up will stop
