We just got engaged and are trying to save all our money for our house and our wedding. We make pretty good money, but we still want to save as much as we can. The tough part is that his brithday lands on Valentines day. So i have gotten him more than one gift on that day in the past. Do I need to do that? Or just one big present? Any ideas are welcome, but just keep in mind we are on a budget. He hates sports. He is in to construction and cars. Thanks!!!

This may sound way out of your league by easyjet offer flights to all over Europe for under £20 return. I am a uni student with limited funds, but I sent my parents to Barcelona in April last year for £40 for flights and £80 for 2 nights in a 3star hotel. If he is into construction there are loads or archictural feats in Barcelona. And it is pretty romantic too. Win win situation.

I like the idea of a coupon book, cooking him a nice dinner and putting on something "more confortable" for him.
If you are both on the same page about saving money for your wedding, he will completely understand. You could also put together a scrap book of your life together so far. Sounds corny, but he may enjoy it.

Go out to an early dinner.... bake him a homemade pie for later (with kool whip of course)...get a card (a home made one would be nice, maybe with a little poem)...Rent a movie (one that he would like)...have some candles lit and just kick back for the night...Sounds like a great time to me...Good luck.

Same boat here...Try making a card on line maybe add your own poem if your creative.. make choc late covered pretzels or ores.. easy & cheap melt choclate in micro on med for 1 min stir & repeat until smooth dip & ly on wax paper until hard.... light candles in your room spray perfume lace bed with cheap flowers....dress up sexy & surprise him ... Bring choclate syrup,carmel..whip cream 7 a blind fold to the scene.. Have fun & love each other.....Good Luck
