I think if u r left-handed that u should wear the watch on the right wrist. If righthanded, wear it on the left wrist. If u wear the watch on the same hand that u use the most, it wont last long. It will get banged up fast!

The wrist watch should be worn on the left wrist. Why? The
watch winding/adjusting knob is placed on the right side of
the watch, and is difficult to be reached by left handers.
However, with the uprising of digital watches this is no longer
a necessity, but a habit. So it matters little on which arm you
wish to wear your watch. Now, you may do as you will.
Note: there are some watch makers who give you the option
of having the knobs on the right side or on the left side of your
watch, which gives you more freedom of choice allowing for
left handers to wear their watches on the left wrist as do most
users. Normally these watches are diving resistant and are
also stop watches, and more expensive.

I guess it should be worn on the left hand because if you need to change the time (for whatever reason) the adjusting button is on the right making it easier to do. However saying all that I wear my on the right because I'm right handed and find it more natural to liftand/or twist the right hand to look at the time.

because before even left handed people were forced to learn how to write with their right hand as it was socially unacceptable to be left handed, therefore, its more comfortable to wear a watch in the hand you don't use to write and left wrist became the watch wrist. this isn't that far in history, my grandmother is a "corrected lefty"

I'm right handed and wear mine on the right, never thought anything of it until i noticed that a LARGE majority of people wear their watches on the left.

You're supposed to wear the watch on the opposite hand of which you're dominant (ie. right handed, wear your watch on the left). I don't. My dad always wore his on his right hand even though he was right handed, so I did too. It is the only thing that feels natural.
The main reason for this is wear and tear on the watch. Especially watches with bracelets and not straps, you can see major scratches and dents.

It is generally worn on the hand that you don't write with,
...however it is a matter of comfort
...just the same as where different people wear the watch face.

The righthanded majority generally find it convenient to wear a watch on the left wrist, but the 11% who are lefthanded may wear it on the right wrist. It disurbs me to see righthanded people wear watches on the right wrist. Of course, one can be like Nocholas Hayek, CEO of Swatch, and wear two watches on each wrist. I have worn a watch on each wrist for specific purposes...but I rarely go to such extremes.

I'm left handed and I wear watches, bracelets, etc.. on my right hand because a watch, etc.. tends to dangle and clink on the surface I'm writing on. My twin sister is right handed and she wear watches, etc.. on her left hand for the same reason. However, I know people who alternate which wrist they prefer, so it's up to you, whatever feels comfortable.
